The Gambia Teachers Union has organized a School Representatives training for another cohort of SRs in the Central River Region town of Janjanbureh.
The training is part of a series of regional trainings rolled out by the union for its representatives in schools. These training are expected to serve as an induction for the representatives as they paddle the mantle of leadership within the Union.
The GTU SR, is the focal person of the Union in schools. As an SR, matters affecting members in their line of duty including communications from and to the union are channeled through the SR. With such a responsibility, the training is expected to bolster the performance of their duties as School Representatives.
During the period of the training, participants will be trained on different modules, including Role of SRs, Communication Skills, Rule Books, Leadership, Conflict and Grievance Handling amongst others.
