The Foni Mission Teachers Association on Friday, 28th May, 2021 kicked off a three day annual convergence at the St. John Vianney UBS/SSS in Bullock-WCR.
The annual convergence is meant to share and discuss best practices to boost the capacities of teachers.

Representing the Gambia Teachers’ Union on day 2 of the event, the Deputy General Secretary, Essa Sowe, informed the gathering of the significance of networking. He commended the strides registered by the association over the years while encouraging participants to build on the spirit of networking. He said networking creates an avenue to exchange ideas and booster newer opportunities. “You never can tell how much you know without listening to other people”.
DGS-Sowe spoke on the significance of motivation in service delivery, saying a motivated teacher influences the learning outcomes of students.
The event was also punctuated with questions and answer sessions. These sessions availed teachers present the opportunity to demystify the role of the union in matters of teachers. It as well gave union authorities the platform to educate members on the current realities and mandate of the union.
The Senior Marketing Officer of the GTUCCU, Amadou Janneh, did a presentation on the mandate and services the CCU offers to members. He also used the platform to clarify concerns raised by teachers especially on the loan deduction scheme, saving threshold among others.
