GTUYTP STATEMENT ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2022 (IYD)

As we observe IYD 2022, we must also challenge Government to prioritize the development of young people in the teaching profession. This should include but not be limited to providing scholarships for them to develop themselves academically, reviewing policies to ensure deserving young teachers are promoted to different cadres in the Establishment as well as improving their socioeconomic welfare through incentives and allowances that commensurate the very challenging conditions they perform their duties.

GTU RECEIVES ‘NEW’ LEADERSHIP OF EDUSA

The leadership of the 12th Executive Council of the Education Students’ Association-EDUSA UTG, today 18th January 2022, paid a courtesy visit to the Gambia Teachers’ Union at the union’s secretariat in Kanifing.

The visit, according to officials of the association, is in honor of the longstanding relationship between the two institutions.

During engagements with officials of the union, the EDUSA executive expressed appreciation of the partnership while expressing interest in strengthening the partnership for the greater good.

The General Secretary, Marie Antoinette Corr in her statement expressed the union’s readiness to always partner and support the association and her activities.

The Education Students Association-EDUSA is a teacher-based association. Established to among other things represent the interest and welfare of the members, the association embarks on activities that seek to strengthen effective teaching and learning, and members’ awareness and involvement in national development strides.
