GTUYTP STATEMENT ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2022 (IYD)

As we observe IYD 2022, we must also challenge Government to prioritize the development of young people in the teaching profession. GT ROLLS OUT TRAINING FOR SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVES

In a bid to strengthen the capacity of its School Representatives to effectively discharge their functions, the Gambia Teachers’ Union has rolled out training programmes for SRs across the country.

The pieces of training that started weeks ago in the Central River Region has now reached the Lower River Region. From the 4th-7th November 2021, thirty School Representatives from schools in LRR would be trained.

SR TRAINING PARTICIPANTS ON GROUP WORK

During the training, participants would be exposed to different modules. These include modules on the structure and function of the union, communication strategies, role of SRs, rule books, conflict resolution strategies, youth matters amongst others.

The union hopes that with these training packages, the grassroots structures would be adequately empowered to function effectively.

From the training in LRR, the team would move to the Upper River Regions for a similar exercise.
