{"id":1251,"date":"2022-05-21T15:25:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-21T15:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gtu.gm\/web\/?p=1251"},"modified":"2022-07-14T15:32:18","modified_gmt":"2022-07-14T15:32:18","slug":"efanet-calls-on-government-to-increase-national-education-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gtu.gm\/web\/efanet-calls-on-government-to-increase-national-education-budget\/","title":{"rendered":"EFANET CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO INCREASE  NATIONAL EDUCATION BUDGET"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">As part of activities marking the annual commemoration of the Global Action Week For Education (GAWE), the Education For All Campaign Network (EFANeT) and key stakeholders of the organization converged at the Soma LBS in the Lower River Region (LRR) to commemorate this year&#8217;s event, under the global theme: &#8220;Protect Education In Emergencies Now!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">This annual event is organized to remind states, world leaders, and the international community of their commitment to protecting education in light of the major emergencies happening around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gtu.gm\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/EFANET.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1253\" width=\"1023\" height=\"767\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gtu.gm\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/EFANET.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.gtu.gm\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/EFANET-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">The theme also looks at the impact of COVID-19 on Education and other compelling challenges including Poverty, Insecurity, Political Instability, Internal displacement, Child Abuse, and other factors that are hindering access to education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Both the EFANet Board Chairperson, Mr. Bakary Badgie, and the EFANet National Coordinator, Mr. Kebba Omar Jarjusey renewed their call for the government to increase the National Education Budget to be able to adequately respond to Education in Crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">In delivering his statement as the Guest Speaker for the occasion,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">the Permanent Secretary-MoBSE, Mr. Louis Moses Mendy expressed his profound gratitude to be associated with this year&#8217;s (GAWE) Commemoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">He recognized the role of EFANet as the watchdog that holds the government to account for delivering equitable, accessible, and relevant education to the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Speaking further on the theme of the commemoration, PS Mendy shared with the audience some of the response mechanisms the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education put in place during the peak period of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the continuity of learning at all times, especially in emergency periods.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of activities marking the annual commemoration of the Global Action Week For Education (GAWE), the Education For All Campaign Network (EFANeT) and key stakeholders of the organization converged at the Soma LBS in the Lower River Region (LRR) to commemorate this year&#8217;s event, under the global theme: &#8220;Protect Education In Emergencies Now!&#8221;
